At the recent Ontario BIA Association (OBIAA) conference, Ottawa’s Business Improvement Areas had the opportunity to sit down with provincial representatives to discuss local challenges and share practical strategies to support businesses, increase foot traffic, and strengthen resilience during uncertain economic times.
OCOBIA’s Chief Advocate, Michelle Groulx, and Barrhaven BIA’s Executive Director, Andrea Steenbakkers, participated in a roundtable with MPP Nina Tangri, Associate Minister of Small Business (Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade).
Downtown Rideau BIA’s Executive Director, Andrew Peck, joined a roundtable with MPP Stéphane Sarrazin, Parliamentary Assistant.
These conversations are an important part of ensuring Ottawa’s main streets are represented in provincial policy decisions — bringing the on-the-ground realities of local businesses directly to the people shaping the legislation that affects them.
Thank you to OBIAA for bringing everyone together, and to our provincial representatives for their valuable time and engagement.
