Snow Removal in Ottawa BIAs

In a continued effort to support the reopening of local businesses, and to ensure the safety of residents who visit, the City will be conducting snow removal operations in our BIAs and business areas in the coming days.

You will know the City’s operations are planned for your BIA when the green signs appear.

Normally, snow removal operations in business areas would be conducted between midnight and 7 am.  Recognizing that many of the businesses in your area will still be closing at 10 pm due to provincial restrictions, the City is going to attempt to begin operations at 10 pm.  This will allow your businesses to be open without disruption, but will also allow the extra time to clear the business areas ahead of the weekend.  Operations will be completed by 7 am each day.

In order to complete the operations, the City is required to post “no parking” signage.  The signs will be placed early on the morning of your assigned snow removal date.  These signs let residents know that snow removal is taking place and overnight parking is not permitted.

Regrettably, the existing signs are marked with the midnight (24:00) – 7 am times, however, during this snow event, we are asking for your support to encourage your patrons to remove their cars by 10 pm.  This will help us to get an early start on removal.  Those parked between midnight and 7 am in the marked areas will be ticketed and/or towed.

Please share this information with businesses and residents in your BIAs. We encourage you to let them know snow removal will be taking place between 10 pm and 7 am.
