OTTAWA January 12, 2022 — Five Ottawa Business Improvement Areas have partnered with My Main Street to participate in the Local Business Accelerator Program. This partnership is set to revitalize the hardest hit Business Improvement Areas in the city, and directly support businesses with data-based consultative support and financial support.
My Main Street was established by the Canadian Urban Institute and the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) EDCO and focuses on creating and maintaining vibrant and inclusive local main streets while providing residents, new entrepreneurs, and existing businesses with economic opportunities.
“The resources and support that My Main Street Program offers came at the perfect time and enables us to move forward with the projects much needed for our community,” says Yukang Li, Executive Director at Somerset Chinatown BIA a participant in the Local Business Accelerator Program.
Through the program, five Ottawa BIAs will be supported with a dedicated Main Street Ambassador, area market research, data analysis and non-repayable funding contributions for new and existing small businesses. The program is funded by Fed Dev Ontario (Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario).
